Chalet Manchot...
When you stay at Chalet Manchot you'll be surrounded by the beauty and adventure of the Mont Blanc mountains. And you can admire this stunning scenery at any time of year from the comfort of the living room. On sunnier days, Chalet Manchot's terrace and flat garden are the perfect place to relax and enjoy the Alpine surroundings.
The chalet is in Les Tines, just 5km from the centre of Chamonix and right next to the lively area of Les Praz. Local buses run throughout the valley all year round, giving you easy access to the Brévent-Flégère and Grands Montets ski areas – a paradise for off-piste skiing – as well as to the Aiguille du Midi. Chalet Manchot is also very close to the train station, and the nearest ski slope and cable car are less than 2km away.
Outside the ski season, you can enjoy magnificent hikes at the foot of Mont Blanc or take the Mont-Blanc tramway, the only one of its kind in France. Mountain bikers can set off directly from the chalet and follow numerous trails to Les Praz, Le Tour-Balme and Les Houches, including a downhill route that runs from the Prarion cable car (at 1,850m) down to Saint-Gervais. Golfers can play the 18-hole course in Les Praz, and families will enjoy a trip to Paradis des Praz, a picturesque spot with a playground and pony rides beside a stream.
In Les Praz, just a few minutes’ walk from the chalet, you’ll find several local supermarkets, bars and restaurants. If you need more choice, you'll find it in nearby Chamonix.
About the property…
Chalet Manchot is a bright, two-storey chalet for up to six guests. There are three bedrooms, each with its own en-suite bath or shower room. Its spacious rooms mean up to six guests can enjoy a comfortable stay.
On the ground floor, there are two double bedrooms, each of which can be arranged with two single beds if you prefer. Each has an en-suite shower room with a toilet and opens straight onto the garden. One also has a desk. There is also a cosy TV room which opens onto the garden.
On the first floor is the third double bedroom, with a balcony and an en-suite bathroom with a toilet. The rest of the floor is taken up by an open-plan living area that opens on two sides to a furnished terrace with breathtaking views. There are two sofas and a wood-burning stove in the lounge area, where you can take in the views or watch television. A dining table connects this area to the modern kitchen, which has everything you’ll need. A separate toilet completes the floor.
Outside, you will find a large, flat garden surrounded by a hedge, featuring sun loungers, a fire pit, and a trampoline for the children, not to mention a magnificent view of the Mont-Blanc mountains.
On the practical side, Chalet Manchot has a ski room with a heated boot dryer. There’s a washing machine and tumble dryer in the kitchen, and six outdoor parking spaces for your vehicles.
About the area…
Chalet Manchot is in Les Tines, a hamlet in the Chamonix-Mont-Blanc area.
Chamonix, at the foot of Mont Blanc, is an iconic ski resort, surrounded by hamlets such as Les Houches, Brévent-Flégère, Grands Montets and Balme-Vallorcine. Renowned as a centre for mountaineering, it attracts visitors with its spectacular glaciers and peaks, its lively town centre and its rich mountain heritage. The Mer de Glace and the Aiguille du Midi, which can be reached by cable car, are among its must-see attractions, drawing nature lovers, sports enthusiasts and visitors from all over the world.
In winter, Chamonix is surrounded by several popular ski areas, including Brévent-Flégère, Grands Montets and Le Tour-Balme, offering more than 150km of slopes. The nearby Évasion Mont-Blanc ski area offers around 400km of slopes around Megève and Saint-Gervais. Downhill skiing, off-piste skiing, cross-country skiing in the Bois du Bouchet, and the descent of the Vallée Blanche are some of the most popular attractions.
During the rest of the year, there is a great choice of outdoor activities in the valley. Hikes lead to Lac Blanc or Lac des Chéserys, with breathtaking views of Mont Blanc. The Montenvers train takes you to the Mer de Glace, whilst the Richard Bozon sports centre features swimming pools, a sauna, an ice rink and a climbing wall. The OVO Network Review
Chalet Manchot is a charming Alpine retreat, designed to accommodate six guests at any time of year. It features practical facilities for winter, such as a ski store and a TV lounge, as well as delightful spaces for the warmer months, including its garden and furnished terrace.
On the first floor, the living room, decorated with bold splashes of colour, looks out onto the Mont-Blanc mountains. In the seating area, cosy sofas arranged around a wood-burning stove invite you to unwind after a day in the mountains.
The kitchen has everything you need to cook up a delicious meal, which you can enjoy at the dining table with mountain views. Floor-to-ceiling windows flood the room with light and open onto a panoramic terrace.
Each of the three double bedrooms at Chalet Manchot has its own en-suite bath or shower room. Two of the bedrooms open onto the garden, whilst the third, on the upper floor, has a private balcony.
We love the flexibility of the sleeping arrangements, as two of these rooms can also be configured with twin beds, depending on your group’s needs.
The flat garden is a real bonus in the mountains, with sunbeds in the summer, a fire pit on colder nights and a trampoline for the children, all with the Alpine peaks as a backdrop.
To make your stay easier, Chalet Manchot has a handy washing machine and plenty of outdoor parking spaces.
